The aroma is rich and strong, with over-ripe apple pie infused with cinnamon, menthol candy, prunes, dates, a strong but good woody note, mint, rich. Upon drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel and expands powerfully with the same rich aroma as the nose, with strong sweetness of cinnamon and apple pie, buttery oiliness, caramelized nuts, mint, a strong but not unpleasant woody note, and an extremely rich and long finish.
【Very Good】
This TULLIBARDINE 1966, aged for 35 years, was bottled by BLACKADDER in the RAW CASK series in 2001.
From the very beginning of the aroma, there is a strong sense of concentration and richness, with unique nuances reminiscent of menthol candy and cinnamon. Alongside the sweet aroma of apple pie and various dried fruits, there is a strong woody note characteristic of long-aged whisky, but it is not harsh.
When tasted, it feels smooth in texture as expected from a long-aged whisky, but expands powerfully with the rich aroma typical of high-proof long-aged whiskies. As with the aroma, it is filled with a unique cinnamon flavor in apple pie, and adding to that, a strong sweetness and oiliness reminiscent of caramelized nuts are clearly felt.
Indeed, the woody note is strong in flavor but not unpleasant, contributing to an extremely rich taste. The minty notes present in both aroma and flavor seem to tighten the potentially overly sweet and sticky fragrance.
This is a long-aged TULLIBARDINE with a clear official-style aroma, stopping just short of over-aging and was very delicious.
