The aroma spreads with a pleasant old-world character and strong matured notes, featuring peach, white grape, premium black tea, faint caramel and herbs, the woodiness of antique furniture, with a seductive and intoxicating quality. Upon drinking, it begins with a smooth mouthfeel, expanding into plum, pear, refined sweetness with juice-like qualities and pleasant acidity, followed by a tightening woody bitterness, leading to a beautifully intoxicating, long finish.
【Very Good】
This is a super-long matured diluted bottling of GlenGrant's 1966 vintage bottled by GM in 2006, approximately 40 years old. From the first impression, an intoxicating aroma with luster spreads, and as described above, it is extremely complex with fresh, diverse fruity notes, tea-like qualities, and woodiness. Perhaps due to the natural alcohol reduction with minimal dilution, it feels expansive beyond its ABV, with a fruity sweetness and accompanying sweetness and acidity that are very appealing. Despite such an extended maturation period, it lacks harsh bitterness, smoothly transitioning into a long, intoxicating finish. I have encountered several such super-long matured diluted bottlings from GM, for example, Decanter's ultra-long matured Livelock or Strathisla. I think it likely results from initially being aged in plain casks with minimal influence, or adjusted through dilution. If they intentionally created such a product from the start, that would be impressive. Although there are many more outstanding examples in this category, it was still remarkably good enough to be rated VG/E.
