When drinking, it has a viscous texture, intense tropical fruits, sweet apricot jam, heavy oily, strong woody with tannins and astringency, rich long finish. [Good/Very Good] This Lochside 1966, 36 year old was bottled in 2002 as part of the Scottish Castles series by Jack Wiebers. The aroma is heavy, with jammy fruits and woody notes, along with a strong oily character, giving an overall rich impression. When tasted, it has a viscous flavor with clear tropical fruit elements. Due to its long aging, the woody notes are strong and slightly tannic, making it quite oily and potentially tiring to drink, but the flavor is rich malt with a long finish. This oiliness and tropical character are reminiscent of Irish or Scottish long-aged grains. Though not stated, the aroma would not be out of place if it were a single blended with grain, typical for Lochside. Indeed, it's a distinctive distillery. #Lochside (LOCHSIDE)
