#ベンネヴィス(BENNEVIS)
A remarkably robust Ben Nevis. The strong sherry notes masked any potential off-putting elements. A single cask, cask strength whisky filled for Alambic Classique in Germany. From the very first sniff, a strong noble old sherry character is evident, with pronounced fruity notes of jam and juice, alongside spicy elements evoking a variety of herbs and curry powder. Despite its long maturation, the grain character remains distinctly present. The sensuousness and rustic Ben Nevis qualities were particularly notable. The whisky is very robust, viscous, and expansive in its aromatic richness. The balance between intense sweetness and astringency is well executed, with a solid woody character present but no overwhelming off-flavors from over-ripeness. The exceptional sherry character and the rustic, heavy oiliness typical of Ben Nevis were both present in a well-balanced manner. Both elements are usually strong enough to dominate the bottle, but their equilibrium here was particularly intriguing and impressive. This is by far the best Ben Nevis I've ever had. In fact, my long-standing dislike for Ben Nevis was resolved by encountering the Alambic Classique Ben Nevis 1996, so I must say their selection of Ben Nevis is outstanding. This bottle was kindly provided by Mr. IAN at Mitsukoshi-Mae. #Ben Nevis (BENNEVIS)
