Rosebank 1967 25 Year Old Chief's Choice

Rosebank ROSEBANK 1967 25yo CHIEFTAIN'S CHOICE 50%
Bottle #ローズバンク(ROSEBANK)
This is precisely the flavor of 1960s Rosebank, offering an exceptional taste. Rosebank ROSEBANK 1967 25yo CHIEFTAIN'S CHOICE 50% The aroma presents a pleasant old-world charm with notes of lemon peel, orange, white flowers, fresh grass, smoked straw, tar, and candle smoke from aged peat. Upon tasting, it delivers a soft mouthfeel with an immersive texture, refined syrup sweetness, and gentle malty umami. The smoky character of smoked straw and tar, along with a slightly oily texture, leaves a long, sensual finish. 【Very Good/Excellent】 This bottle is from the Chief's Choice series, labeled as a single cask Rosebank distilled in 1967 and aged for 25 years. It is said to contain Rosebank whisky. The first impression of the aroma is distinctive, featuring refreshing citrus and floral elements alongside a glassy nuance. However, these are accompanied by strong notes of old peat, such as aged tar and smoke. When tasted, the malty character becomes more prominent than the fruity and grassy notes, with its umami richness blending into a refined, immersive texture that has developed over more than 20 years since bottling. As expected, the old peat character is clearly present, and the long, oily finish carries a sensual quality. Although there's no label, I believe this is clearly a 1960s Rosebank with a satisfying aroma. It's an amazing flavor that left me in awe. By the way, Rosebank is often associated with the Zenith bottlings, which are most famous for representing the house style. However, this feels like a different expression altogether. The lingering peat notes in the finish remind me of Zenith 20, but this has a stronger peat character. Unlike Zenith's crisp dryness, this feels more velvety and smooth. I suspect this is due to aging changes from water addition, but I'm not sure... Nevertheless, both styles represent what I consider to be characteristic of Rosebank. This kind of recognition is quite challenging, and I think it can only be fully understood by drinking many different vintages and aging periods. However, old vintage Rosebank is particularly difficult to categorize. I'll be more mindful of drinking these in the future. #Rosebank (ROSEBANK)
