This is a memorable bottle. Caperdonich CAPERDONICH 1968-1999 31yo Mackillop's Choice #813 43% The aroma has a pleasant old-world charm, light and fruity with green apple, fresh orange, gentle barley notes, and a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. When drinking, it starts with a soft palate that expands lightly, featuring slightly heated apple, refined sweetness and acidity, crisp barley notes, and a clean finish with a short but refreshing aftertaste. [Good/Very Good] This is Caperdonich 1968, a 31-year-old whisky from Mackillop's Choice. The aroma has a gentle old-world character, with light fruity notes and soft barley undertones. When drinking, it remains light and fruity, with refined sweetness and acidity, and an impressionable crisp finish. While the whisky itself is clean and delicious, it leaves a desire to drink something more intense or with stronger character, without affecting the next whisky tasted. It would be an excellent starter dram. To be honest, this Caperdonich is a nostalgic bottle that was served to me during my first visit to the Campbelltown Loch bar in Yurakucho. At that time, I had a stronger impression of its old-world character, but now I think it was more due to my lack of familiarity with older bottles rather than the bottle's condition. I was in my 20s at the time and felt a high barrier to entry for famous whisky bars. I visited early in the New Year when it wasn't too crowded, and before the intimidating regulars had arrived, this bottle was served as my first dram. Even now, I think it's the best starter whisky. After that, every subsequent whisky exceeded my previous knowledge and I ended up drinking a lot. Since then, I've had a long relationship with Campbell-san, but that first day was the most I drank. (laughs) I didn't know the market price and brought a significant amount of money, but surprisingly, I only spent about 1/10 of it despite drinking a lot. This Caperdonich was the starter dram that began my new chapter in whisky, and though it doesn't have a special aroma, it's a bottle I'll never forget. #Caperdonich (CAPERDONICH)
