Bottle #ロングモーン(LONGMORN)
This is exactly what a Longmorn 68 Sherry from the Society feels like. Longmorn LONGMORN 1968 38yo SMWS for Tokyo Concours d'Elegance 52.5% The aroma has an enchanting depth of rich sherry, grape juice, prunes, dried fruits, herbaceous notes reminiscent of bouquet garni, a solid woody character, and a sweet complexity. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with an equally enchanting sherry character, fresh grape notes, dried fruits, a rich fruity sweetness balanced with a gentle astringency, luxurious woodiness and herbs. The finish is long. 【Very Good】 This appears to be a commemorative bottle for the classic car concourse, Tokyo Concours d'Elegance. The cask supplier is SMWS. Elements typical of 1960s rich sherry such as grape juice, dried fruits, and strong herbal/woody characteristics are clearly present. However, the astringency often associated with woody notes was nicely balanced, which made an impression. The balance between the rich sweetness and astringency was exceptional, making this a standout Longmorn sherry. While the tropical notes characteristic of 1960s Longmorns seem subdued by the sherry, it allowed for an enjoyable experience of a bold, rich sherry. This pattern is often found in the Society's 68 Longmorn, and it reminded me of the 68 Longmorns I've enjoyed for Magazine Live, sharing similar nuances. In particular, the controlled astringency made this especially noteworthy.
