Indeed, the 1960s Bowmore is captivating. Bowmore BOWMORE 1969-2006 36yo DUNCAN TAYLOR PEERLESS COLLECTION #6090 44.0% one of 233 bottles The aroma is intensely fruity, with notes of mangosteen and lychee juice, passion fruit, grapefruit rind, a gentle touch of barley and smoked hay, a subtle sexy armpit scent, and a refined smoky peat. On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel, expanding into a strong, diverse array of fruits similar to the aroma, juicy sweetness and acidity, a faint vegetal note balanced by a tightening tanginess, some dryness but surprisingly lingering peat, and a long finish. 【Very Good】 This is Bowmore 1969, aged for 36 years from the Duncan Taylor Peerless Collection. The tropical sensation explodes from the aroma, with an overwhelming abundance of fruits like mangosteen, lychee, passion fruit, and grapefruit rind—exactly what one expects from a 1960s Bowmore. The characteristic Islay peatiness then subtly emerges from the background. On tasting, the same intense fruits as in the aroma are clearly present with a strong juice sensation, enchanting me with its juicy sweetness and acidity. While there are other malts with similar fruity characteristics, such as Benriach 1976, when I tasted this again after a long time, I truly felt that similarity is only part of the charm. "Why does whisky made from barley taste so fruity?"—this was a drink that once again brought back the same question I felt when first falling in love with malt whisky. #Bowmore (BOWMORE)
