Balblair BALBLAIR 1970-2005 35yo OB 44.2%
Bottle #バルブレア(BALBLAIR)
Full of maturation, it was reminiscent of a fruit cake. Balblair BALBLAIR 1970-2005 35yo OB 44.2% The aroma has a significant level of maturation, with orange oil, slightly estery pear, vanilla, coconut, cream-filled fruit cake, strong oak and butterscotch, rich and complex. When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel expanding into a fragrant depth of orange oil, pear, vanilla and coconut, sweet richness with honey-like depth, tightened by strong oak, finishing with a rich and long aftertaste. 【Good/Very Good】 Bottled in 2005, this is an official Balblair 1970 with 35 years of aging. Initially, its dark color made me think it was a sherry cask malt, but upon tasting, the bourbon cask characteristics of vanilla and coconut were clearly present in both aroma and flavor. The fruity maturation with estery notes typical of long-aged Balblair was clearly felt, combined with creamy sweetness and a rich oak finish, giving it the impression of a fruit cake. It also has a concentrated feel characteristic of long-aged, lower ABV whiskies, and with its rich oak character, the body doesn't feel too light, offering an unexpectedly satisfying drinking experience.
