As expected, I couldn't help but pursue this lineage. Longmorn LONGMORN 1970-2006 36yo SPECIALITY DRINKS The Single Malts of Scotland #28 56.1% one of 255 bottles, Sherry Cask The aroma features a pleasant sherry with rich fruits—plum, pineapple, guava—alongside premium chocolate and a coniac-like ratio. Upon drinking, it expands with an enchanting old sherry character, plum notes, berry jam with lingering juiceiness, a juicy and intense sweetness balanced by refined woody tannins, leaving a long, blissful finish. [Very Good] This bottle, released in 2006 as part of the Specialty Drinks (Whisky Exchange) Single Malts of Scotland series, is Longmorn 1970 aged for 36 years. It beautifully combines the noble, old sherry character of yesteryear with a juicy, concentrated fruitiness that includes tropical fruits from this era. The aroma carried an enchanting coniac-like depth, and as expected, the fruity sweetness is charmingly balanced by a refined woody tannin that prevents it from feeling overripe. As a fruity malt, this is one of my favorite styles, allowing me to immerse myself in a sense of happiness. While 1980s bottlings also lack overripeness and are excellent, there's been an increase in bottles with a stronger old-world character. Currently, bottlings that retain body even after this level of aging while not being overly tight in the cask seem to evoke a greater sense of enchantment. #Longmorn (LONGMORN)
