Highland Park HIGHLAND PARK 1970–2008 GM Rare Old 43% First Fill Sherry Butt
Bottle #ハイランドパーク(HIGHLANDPARK)
This was a very good GM watered-down sherry Highland Park. Highland Park HIGHLAND PARK 1970–2008 GM Rare Old 43% First Fill Sherry Butt The aroma has a very good sherry character, concentrated grape juice, berry jam, dried fruits, clove, bouquet garni, mint, faintly humus, old woodiness, peat from the back, smooth mouthfeel when drinking, caramel, dried fruits, sweetness is unexpectedly not strong, no harshness but a slightly stronger tannic woodiness, herbaceous plant sensation, rich body, earthiness and peat from the latter half, with a long finish. 【Very Good】 This Highland Park 1970 was bottled by GM in 2008, aged for approximately 38 years in a first-fill sherry butt with water added. It has a complex aroma often found in good GM sherries from that era, with grape juice, berry jam, spices, herbs, and an earthy quality. It also had the woody character typical of long-aged first-fill sherries. When drinking, the mouthfeel was smooth due to the water addition, with dried fruits dominating over grape juice. While there is some sweetness, it's not strong, and the tannic woodiness adds depth to the flavor. It is likely that without water addition, this would have been a harsh and unbalanced bottle. I felt it was fortunate that it was bottled with water addition. This was a delicious Highland Park from a GM sherry cask, different from the official sherry character. Additionally, I drank it immediately after opening and midway through, but I got the impression that it would become even more viscous, sweeter, and the tannic bitterness would settle, making it tastier with more time. #Highland Park (HIGHLANDPARK)
