MILLBURN 1971 16 Year Old SESTANTE 65.4%
This was a true example of high-proof SESTANTE flavor.
MILLBURN 1971-1987 16yo SESTANTE 65.4%
The aroma is powerful, with strong rustic barley notes, cinnamon, apple pie, dried apricot. Upon drinking, it has a strongly spicy and stimulating mouthfeel, powerful with a concentrated texture, oversteeped black tea, a faint sweetness of apricot tea, and good tannins from oak deepen the flavor. Powerful and long-lasting finish.
【Very Good】
This is a MILLBURN 1971, 16-year-old bottling for SESTANTE released in 1987. While it shares similarities with other vintages like the Glenrothes 1971 Full Proof (same SESTANTE bottling and specifications), it distinctly exhibits powerful rustic barley notes, with clear nuances of Hachimachi (a Japanese sweet) and cinnamon. Though not overly complex, it has depth and thickness in its aroma, with each flavor having a clear outline. Despite being over 30 years since bottling, it still feels vibrant—almost rugged in its character. The green bottle likely contributes to its resistance to degradation, as I recall that FIDIC's 70s-80s green-bottled whiskies, despite being short-aged and watered down, rarely show signs of deterioration. The master from Ginza described it as having a flavor like ice just beginning to melt, which is exactly how it feels. It's intriguing to wonder when this will soften and what flavor it will take on once it does. A bottle that allows one to fully enjoy the high-proof SESTANTE character, with a strong flavor that convincingly demonstrates its quality. It met my expectations and provided considerable satisfaction.
