[Very Good] The Sestante Glenlossie 1972, a 16-year-old cask strength bottling. The aroma is dominated by rich old sherry, with grape notes that hint at juiciness, slightly vulgarly intense Armagnac, and elements like jam and concentrated black tea. The taste is similarly dominated by the thick old sherry, with rich fruity notes including grape-like sweetness, a viscous sweet flavor, tannins that deepen the taste, and a barley umami that emerges from the background. The aftertaste is long and pleasant. This sherried cask bottling retains a vibrant strength that would not be expected from an 80s bottling, and it left the impression that the aromas had not yet fully integrated. If left unopened for further time, it might become more cohesive, with a broader range of fruits, stronger leather notes, and heightened intoxication. It evokes the image of a great Bordeaux vintage, and is a bottle I would personally buy and age despite its slightly high price.
