Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
The tree resin-like quality was unexpected.
Glenlivet GLENLIVET 1972-1991 18yo Cadenhead Authentic Collection 53.7%
The aroma features a simple, strong barley note with a mellow fruitiness of apricot jam, faint tree resin and wax, ginger and herbs, cinnamon, and a pleasant oakiness. On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a fragrant aroma of apricot jam and tree resin, with a slightly chewy barley umami, rich strong sweetness, and a gentle tightening oak finish, leaving a long, pleasant aftertaste.
【Very Good】
This is the Glenlivet 1972, aged for 18 years and bottled in 1991 as part of the Cadenhead Authentic Collection in a green bottle. While it showcases a simple barley character typical of Green Cadenhead with minimal cask influence, the notable presence of tree resin and wax nuances in both aroma and flavor left a strong impression. Although it shares characteristics with Clynelish or Craigellachie, I rarely perceive such traits in Glenlivet. The barley umami is naturally robust, and the sweetness has a rich depth, making it delicious. While the cask influence isn't overpowering, among similar Green Cadenhead bottlings, it exhibits a relatively rich oak character.
