Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
A 1972 Bowmore with prominent sherry notes. Bowmore BOWMORE 1972-2008 36yo SIGNATORY VINTAGE CASK STRENGTH COLLECTION #3890 45.4% one of 540 bottles The aroma is a soft, sweet sherry with grape juice-like notes of Muscat grapes,夕張 melon, slightly concentrated berries and pineapple, black sugar, leather, and a smoky peatiness with faint iodine. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with solid sherry, concentrated grape juice and Armagnac notes,夕張 melon, a fruity, rich sweetness, and a strong woody bitterness. The peat is also well-presented, with a rich, long finish. 【Very Good】 This Bowmore 1972 was bottled by Signatory in 2008, aged for 36 years. While it doesn't have the depth of the best 1960s Bowmores, it has a fragrance that wraps around with classic old sherry notes. It's quite fruity with grape juice-like nuances and berry notes, but the tropical character typical of Bowmore is more subdued. Additionally, a strong peatiness with iodine notes was clearly felt. Even when drinking, the sherry character is prominent, and like the aroma, there's a grape-like quality that creates an intoxicating sensation. The rich sweetness is complemented by the mature woody bitterness and tannins, with a strong peatiness and body that is well-maintained for its alcohol content, resulting in a long finish. Notably, the peatiness was felt to be quite thick compared to the same system bottler's 1960s Bowmores. By the way, I remember that Prestonfield 72 from the same Signatory cask with a similar cask number also had a noticeable thickness of peatiness. #Bowmore (BOWMORE)
