GlenGoyne 1972 37 Year Old Jack Wiebers Prenzlow #4201 51.5%
Bottle #グレンゴイン(GLENGOYNE)
The official flavor I had expected was clearly perceptible.
GlenGoyne GLENGOYNE 1972 37yo JWWW Prenzlow Portfolio Collection #4201 51.5%
one of 178 bottles
The aroma features apricot jam, buttercream, baked apple and cinnamon with nuances of apple pie, pleasant woodiness, caramelized nuts, juicy richness.
On the palate, it expands with a rich and aromatic profile similar to the aroma: apricot jam, apple pie, caramel, buttercream, a dense and sweet flavor, tightening oak, and a long, rich, intoxicating finish.
【Very Good/Excellent】
This is a GlenGoyne 1972, aged for 37 years from the Prenzlow Portfolio Collection by German bottler Jack Wiebers.
Looking at the label, it seems that half of the cask was bottled first, and then the remaining half was bottled 111 days later.
In Japan, Shinoya also did something similar, but it turns out that this kind of attempt was already being done around 2000.
It has a very mature aroma without losing its body, making it an exceptionally wonderful malt on its own.
However, personally, there was another reason I was surprised by this bottle.
When thinking of GlenGoyne from a German bottler in 1972, many have an open expression of berry fruits, which is great in its own right, but this bottle was not part of that lineage.
Elements like cinnamon, baked apple, and cream were clearly perceptible, with a strong nuance reminiscent of apple pie.
This is a characteristic strongly felt in the vintage reserve bottles from the same distillery, something I don't recall ever experiencing in bottler releases.
There's a stronger creaminess and buttery, smooth oily nuance, with a solid body.
It's my favorite aroma with an intoxicating quality, making it an excellent GlenGoyne.
