Ben Nevis BENNEVIS 1973-1999 OB #755 55.2% one of 247 bottles
Bottle #ベンネヴィス(BENNEVIS)
I can't recall ever encountering an official Ben Nevis with such specifications. Ben Nevis BENNEVIS 1973-1999 OB #755 55.2% one of 247 bottles The aroma features apricot jam, subtle pineapple notes, a pronounced woody character with hints of new cask and cedar-like nuances, cinnamon, cream, richness. On the palate, it offers a smooth mouthfeel with cinnamon, matured barley character, faintly soapy yet refined, apricot jam, gentle sweetness, mint, cream, sesame oil, and a plant-like quality. The finish is not overly long but cleanly resolved. 【Good/Very Good】 This official Ben Nevis 1973 is a single cask matured for approximately 26 years. Official Ben Nevis from the 1970s are quite rare, but this one lacks the paper-like or exotic nuances I often find unappealing. The tropical character, like pineapple, is present but not overpowering, rather subtly expressed. The cinnamon-like aroma is relatively strong, with an unusual oily quality reminiscent of sesame oil, yet without heaviness. The body is not overly thick, offering a smooth drinking experience. A slight soapy flavor is detectable when drinking, but it enhances the overall refinement without introducing negative characteristics. Compared to my usual experience with Ben Nevis, this expression is more restrained in its oily or paper-like qualities, presenting a well-balanced and pleasant drinking experience.
