Bottle #ダラスデュー(DALLAS DHU)
I like many of the Dallas Dhu whiskies in this range. Dallas Dhu DALAS DHU 1975-2008 32yo SIGNATORY #1494 49.5% One of 207 bottles, Bourbon Barrel The aroma features apricot jam, orange flavoured tea, honey, caramelized nuts, a subtle matured barley note emerging from the background, slightly resinous, oiliness, and richness. On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a rich, full-bodied sweetness reminiscent of apricot jam and orange marmalade. The gentle tannins from oak deepen the flavor, while the barley's umami and oily, rich finish linger long. 【Good/Very Good】 This is a cask strength Dallas Dhu 1975, aged for 32 years in a bourbon barrel, released by Signatory. Despite the lengthy aging of 32 years in the barrel, there's no over-oxidation. The aroma begins with a rich fruity note like apricot jam, alongside a tea-like quality reminiscent of orange tea. Additionally, the scent includes caramel and oil, creating a relatively robust aroma that evokes Clynyllish. On the palate, it's rich and viscous with a broad, aromatic spread. As expected from the aroma, there's a concentrated fruity character followed by a rich, sweet depth, balanced by the tightening oak notes. The lingering barley umami was also a pleasant surprise. I recall having several types of Dallas Dhu 1975 from Signatory in the past, including some in dumpy bottles. All of them had viscosity and shared similarities with my favorite Clynyllish, which was also the case for this one. While it didn't surpass expectations or stand out exceptionally, its flavor was close to Very Good (VG) quality.
