Full of maturation and was delicious.
Longmorn 1975-2010 35yo The Whisky Agency 52.5%
One of 107 bottles, EX-BOURBON HOGSHEAD
The aroma is floral and fruity, slightly estery, with juicy notes of peach, pineapple, papaya, orange, and white wine.
On the palate, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel, expanding into a similarly floral and diverse fruity profile with juicy sweetness and acidity. The depth is not overwhelming, but the finish is pleasant.
[Good/Very Good]
This Longmorn 1975, aged for 35 years, was bottled by The Whisky Agency in 2010. Likely reflecting the preferences of the agency's representative, Mr. Kausten, which often resulted in releases with pronounced estery and fruity characteristics that could sometimes feel overt. However, compared to other bottlers, Longmorn releases from The Whisky Agency often had a more natural maturation feel.
Regarding this particular Longmorn, I believe I tasted it at the time of bottling, but there are no records, and I have no memory of its flavor. However, based on my impression from this tasting, it showed a good level of maturation with the fruity notes taking center stage. A variety of tropical fruits like peach and pineapple were detectable, along with a pleasant balance of juicy sweetness and acidity. While the body did not feel as heavy as the alcohol content might suggest, this Longmorn was a deliciously feminine and beautiful whisky.
