A delicious Highland Park that gives a straight-forward impression of heather honey.
Highland Park HIGHLAND PARK 1975-1999 23 Year Old HART BROTHERS 50.9%
The aroma features honey, orange marmalade, well-fermented barley with a refreshing floral note, vanilla, and smoky peat from the depths. Upon drinking, it expands with a rich aroma, slightly spicy, orange peel, sweet honeyed depth, oaky complexity, robust barley character with umami richness, and a smoky peat finish in the aftertaste. [Very Good]
This Highland Park 1975, aged for 23 years, was released by Hart Brothers in 2001. While differing from the official sherry cask versions, it presents initial honey and fresh floral elements, with fruitiness from citrus and good barley character. Deeper layers showcase assertive peat. The drink is aromatic, with the honey-like deep sweetness as its charm. Similar to the aroma, it features orange, good barley character, and peat, with oak working subtly. Though not as bold-bodied as sherry cask versions, it still retains the thickness characteristic of high proof whisky.
No over-ripeness was detected, and there are absolutely no negative aspects. It left a clear impression of being filled at the optimal time and enjoyed at its prime drinking moment. Without the obvious sherry influence, this Highland Park makes heather honey and peat more noticeable, making it highly appealing.
