Ardmore ARDMORE 1977-1995 17yo Cadenhead Green Bottle 59.6%
The nose has a simple, slightly heavy barley character with vanilla, lime, and a straightforward cask note. On the palate, it gradually delivers spicy sensations like cinnamon, with a strong, chewy barley umami flavor that lingers long with a tar-like peat note.
【Very Good】
This is an Ardmore 1977, bottled by Cadenhead in 1995 after a maturation of 17 years. It has the green bottle, short-matured Cadenhead style with a sharp and straightforward cask character. It offers citrus notes, cinnamon, and a textured, chewy umami flavor that is clearly present. The peat note has an East Highlands-like tar-like quality, which is quite assertive.
It was probably more robust right after bottling, but now it has settled down quite a bit, allowing for a slow appreciation of its concentration and umami.
The sweetness is not strong, the overall flavor has a clean, dry finish with no complexity. This style may be divisive, but personally I found it quite enjoyable.
