Pulteney PULTENEY 1977-2005 29yo DUNCAN TAYLOR PEERLESS COLLECTION #3076 58.6% one of 204 bottles
Bottle #プルトニー(PULTENEY)
Previously a sister cask from a bottle I drank at home, but indeed they were sisters. Pulteney PULTENEY 1977-2005 29yo DUNCAN TAYLOR PEERLESS COLLECTION #3076 58.6% one of 204 bottles The aroma is elegant, with vanilla cream, grapefruit and orange, light peach, oil, a barley sensation from the depths. The mouthfeel is smooth with viscosity, butterscotch, ripe orange, light pear, vanilla, a rich sweetness of honey, a solid barley umami, slightly oily with a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This is Pulteney 1977, 28-year-old cask number #3077 from the Duncan Taylor Peerless Collection. It's the neighboring cask to the one I opened at home in 2012 and shared a tasting note for, #3076. I believe there was another cask or two of the same vintage in the Peerless Collection as a sister cask. Rather than being distinctly Pulteney-like, it has an elegant aroma typical of Peerless. I faintly sensed fruity nuances beyond citrus, like peach. The presence of oil, cream, and barley sensations might be considered Pulteney-like. Upon tasting, it indeed carried the weightiness and maturity of Pulteney, but the house style prevailed, with a strong impression left by its rich sweetness, barley umami, and persistent oiliness until the end. It shared many similarities with the sister cask I drank at home before, but #3076 might have shown a slightly stronger Duncan Taylor character.
