Glen Scotia GLENSCOTIA 1977 33yo Islay Tour 2010 54.6% one of 165 bottles
The aroma is rustic, with mellowed orange, rich barley notes, cinnamon, honey, and dry nuts like pistachio. When drinking, it has a penetrating texture with chewiness, slightly wilted orange, cinnamon, rich and savory barley notes, a sweet and velvety flavor with a faint saltiness, and a savory finish. [Good/Very Good]
This Glen Scotia 1977 was bottled after returning from a tour to Islay in 2010, which included Campbelltown Loch and Yamagoka. It has aged for approximately 33 years. At the time, I found it interesting that an Islay tour included Campbelltown Malt. Despite its long aging period, the cask influence is not strong, and it has a plain, fruity aroma with diverse aging characteristics. The fragrance had rustic elements like the refined barley notes, cinnamon, honey, and nuts. When drinking, it has a textured aging character, with refined barley notes that remain firmly on the tongue despite its aging years. It also has a sweet, velvety flavor and a slightly mineral-salty note typical of Campbelltown Malt. When I opened it at home upon bottling, its rustic charm made me want to drink more, and I finished it in a short period. This time, after over five years since bottling, I felt the refined elements had become stronger, enhancing its drinkability.
