Bottle #グレンバーギー(GLENBURGIE)
A delicious short-matured Society Malt, but the flavor was unexpectedly influenced by the cask. Glenburgie GLENBURGIE 1978-1990 11yo THE SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY 71.3 58.7% The aroma is clear and pleasant with a strong barley note, rich and delicate with hints of ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, and oak. When drinking it is spicy and a bit fiery but also has a refined texture with some viscosity, rich and deep barley notes, oak is more pronounced than the aroma, a gentle sweetness is felt, with a slightly tightening oak bitterness. The finish is long. [Good/Very Good] This is a 11-year-old bottling of Glenburgie from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, numbered 71. It is a blend of the 1978 and 1990 bottlings. At the aroma stage, it is a typical short-matured Society Malt with rich barley notes as its base. However, there was a slight bourbon cask influence felt. When drinking it still has the rich umami barley notes as its base, but the oakiness is more pronounced than in the aroma, giving it depth of flavor. The texture, which seems to be due to bottle aging, was a pleasant surprise and gave the impression that it is at its drinking peak.
