Bottle #オスロスク(AUCHROISK)
The aroma was plain, a scent commonly found in SMWS. Auchroisk AUSROISK 1978-1991 13yo THE SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY 95.1 58.3% The nose features fresh citrus, light green apple candy, ginger, and a malty freshness with minimal cask influence, remaining plain. On the palate, it is straightforward, gradually revealing spiciness, citrus, and a strong malty character with a clear, unobtrusive flavor profile. Despite its high proof, it has a light body. 【Good/Very Good】 This is the 95th bottling by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, featuring Auchroisk distilled between 1978-1991 and aged for 13 years. As the first bottling (1st edition), it represents the earliest Auchroisk bottling by the Society. A plain-style malt with minimal cask influence, this reminds one of the green bottles from Caol Ila or other SMWS bottlings from the late 1970s. The Auchroisk in this SMWS bottling follows that pattern, with a strong malty character accompanied by fresh citrus and ginger-like spiciness. While spicy, it lacks pronounced characteristics. The high proof and minimal aging result in a forward malty presence but without significant umami depth, and its light body for the alcohol content may reflect the distillery's personality. Though undeniably delicious, it leans toward a niche audience, making one wonder about the optimal drinking sequence when sampling multiple bottles.
