Glencaudam 1978-2004 26yo Official for Jack Wiebers Whisky World
Bottle #グレンカダム(GLENCADAM)
Although the label doesn't seem official, it has a rich and punchy sherry flavor.
Glencaudam GLENCADAM 1978-2004 26yo OB for Jack Wiebers Whisky World 55%
one of 184 bottles
The aroma is warm with barrel sherry, featuring grape skins, balsamic vinegar, bitter chocolate, dried fruits, orange marmalade, mirin, soy sauce, clove, herbs, a touch of meatiness, and richness.
When tasted, it spreads richly and powerfully with a sticky prune, dried fruit sweetness, jam-like richness, herbal notes, woody tannins, and a long, luxurious finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This is an official single cask bottling of Glencaudam 1978, aged for 26 years, bottled for Jack Wiebers Whisky World in Germany.
The label is showy and bottler-like, making it hard to believe it's official without checking the details. It's surprising they produced such a bottling.
Overall, the sherry character dominates both aroma and flavor, with little of the original spirit's personality. However, it offers a surprisingly diverse range of aromas.
Particularly notable were the balsamic vinegar-like nuances and mirin-like hints in the aroma, as well as the jammy sweetness and strong tannins in the flavor.
This is a powerful sherry character that might take time to fully appreciate, but it could have originally had sulfurous notes.
Such a thick and syrupy sherry character in a malt is enjoyable when drunk occasionally, and I can imagine wanting to drink it once opened at home.
I suspect it would end up being drunk only in one final glass.
