Glenfiddich 1979-1990 Samaroli #14797
Bottle #グレンフィディック(GLENFIDDICH)
Though 25 years have passed since bottling, it still feels stubborn.
Glenfiddich GLENFIDDICH 1979-1990 DUTHIE for SAMAROLI #14797 57%
One of 480 bottles
The aroma is youthful yet rustic, with strong barley notes, fresh bread dough, citrus, and a grassy plant-like quality. It lacks complexity. Upon drinking, it is spicy but not overly intense, expanding into a fragrant freshness with citrus and plant-like qualities. A crisp sweetness and acidity linger on the tongue, along with a deep barley umami that lingers.
[Good/Very Good]
It is said to have been bottled by Samaroli from Duthie's cask in 1990 (not indicated on the bottle), a full-proof single cask Glenfiddich 1979.
The aroma features fresh citrus, a strong barley sensation reminiscent of fresh bread dough, and plant-like qualities with the youthful boldness typical of a short maturation.
Upon tasting, it is less harsh than expected from the aroma, revealing a fragrant potential. Similar to the aroma, it has fresh citrus and plant-like qualities with strong barley notes, but the barley's umami lingers subtly, which was a positive aspect.
With 25 years since bottling, the mouthfeel has softened slightly, and a texture that lingers on the tongue is emerging. However, overall it still feels stubborn.
Though lacking complexity, it has a strong flavor with an unrefined umami quality. The impression is almost identical to when I drank it about 5 years ago.
