Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1979-2014 OB for The Bow Bar & Shinanoya #8801 50.8% One of 212 bottles, Plain Hogshead
Bottle #グレンファークラス(GLENFARCLAS)
As expected, this was a very fruity Farclas. Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1979-2014 OB for The Bow Bar & Shinanoya #8801 50.8% One of 212 bottles, Plain Hogshead The aroma is strongly fruity, with white grape, peach, pear, pineapple, supported by a slightly damp grainy note, pleasant oak. Upon drinking, it starts with a soft mouthfeel and gradually expands into a richly aromatic profile, still strongly fruity with pineapple, peach, children's dry syrup medicine, juicy freshness and sweetness, with a subtle oak tannin depth. Long finish. 【Very Good】 This year's bottling for The Bow Bar in Sapporo and Shinanoya is an official Glenfarclas 1979. Similar to the previous Shinanoya release (a sister cask), this also appears to be a non-sherry cask Glenfarclas. The aroma opens fully fruity, with a diverse range of fruits like white grape and peach clearly present, supported by underlying grainy notes. On the palate, it remains aromatic and fruity-forward. Slight chemical-like nuances reminiscent of medicine accompany it, but the juicy freshness and sweetness as expected from the aroma were clearly present, offering a deep and layered flavor. This Farclas is packed with fruity characteristics that would appeal to Shinanoya buyer Kitajiri, differing from the typical sherry-cask Glenfarclas. Although it's not a sherry cask, this is an exceptional Speyside malt with notable aging depth. It's impressive that such a forward fruity profile retains its grainy elements and body, rather than fading or becoming thin.
