The aroma has a plain cask feel, refined elegance, orange, honey, and a rich, rugged barley character.
When drinking, it starts with a soft, smooth mouthfeel that spreads out, a texture that gradually seeps into the tongue, with sweet notes of orange and honey, rich barley umami, and a simple yet long-lasting finish.
【Very Good】
This is the 17th release from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, SCAPA 1980, aged for 15 years.
It has no added flavor and feels plain, with a strong sense of rugged, rich barley character from both the aroma and taste.
While the fragrance is not particularly diverse, there are hints of citrus fruits and a rich honey-like sweetness. It has a texture that feels well-rounded and aged, which was very impressive.
I imagine the bottling at the time was more monotonous and harder to drink, but now it has reached a drinking-ready stage that I enjoy - the plain aged type.
