This Dalmore immediately presents a well-ripened tropical fruit character, with a chocolate-like quality and a woody, rich aroma. I have encountered several Dalmore bottlings with strong tropical characteristics before, and they often come from bourbon casks rather than sherry casks. Regarding this bottle, my first impression was that it might be a sherry cask due to its chocolate-like quality. However, upon closer tasting, I reconsidered and believe it is more likely a bourbon cask. Recently, similar nuances have been found in some aged agency bottlings that are typically associated with sherry casks, suggesting this might be a bourbon cask with characteristics overlapping those of sherry casks.
