Brora 1981 18 Year Old Douglas Laing Old Malt Cask
Bottle #ブローラ(BRORA)
I sometimes think that Brora and Ardmore are similar.
Brora BRORA 1981-1999 18yo DOUGLAS LAING Old Malt Cask 50%
one of 335 bottles
The aroma is cool, with chlorine, metallic notes, smoke, apricot jam, wax, resin. When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel and expands forcefully with a slightly sticky viscosity, resin, and rich sweetness of honey or apricot jam. It has body with some saltiness and metallic notes, but these are milder than the aroma. Slightly oily with a long finish.
【Very Good】
From Douglas Laing's Old Malt Cask, Brora 1981, 18 years old.
The aroma has similar notes to Clydesdale like apricot jam, wax, and resin, as well as strong saltiness and metallic notes reminiscent of 1970s Ardmore, giving a cool impression.
When drinking, the same Clydesdale-like nuances and sticky viscosity as described in the aroma are clearly felt. The saltiness and metallic notes are milder than in the aroma.
Particularly, 1970s Brora often has cool saltiness and metallic notes similar to 1970s Ardmore, but this 81 Brora strongly exhibits such nuances in the aroma.
As mentioned above, of course, there are Clydesdale-like nuances plus peat, which is uniquely Brora. This was my favorite aroma.
