Bottle #ブローラ(BRORA)
There was an interesting contrast between the aroma and flavor. Brora BRORA 1981-2001 20yo SIGNATORY #575 43% - one of 405 bottles The nose begins with dry orange, vanilla, dried barley, smoked hay, and a slightly chlorinated cold nuance, then reveals apricot tea with gradually warming creaminess. On the palate, it is viscous and sticky, with orange cream, apricot tea, a subtle sweet richness, briny notes, smokiness, a touch of metallic character, and a long peaty finish. [Good/Very Good] This is a Signatory bottling from 2001 of Brora 1981, aged for 20 years. The nose has a chlorinated quality and strong peatiness with smoky dominance, giving an initially cold impression. Gradually, creamy nuances suggesting apricot tea and warmth emerge. The palate shares similarities with Clydesdale, featuring a sticky viscosity and rich apricot tea, with metallic and briny undertones beneath the sweet richness. The characteristic peatiness is certainly present, lingering through to the finish. While the initial aroma impression felt cooler, reminiscent of Brora from the mid-1970s rather than 1981, it evolved over time. The flavor profile emphasizes peatiness typical of this vintage Brora, delivering a satisfyingly expected taste.
