New Release: Glenlivet 1981-2015 33yo Signatory Cask Strength Collection for The Whisky Hoop #9443

Glenlivet GLENLIVET 1981-2015 33yo SIGNATORY CASK STRENGTH COLLECTION for THE WHISKY HOOP #9443 50.2% one of 92 bottles, Refill Sherry Hogshead
Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
The comparison between the two bottles was interesting. This one had a more elegant and slightly crisp character. Glenlivet GLENLIVET 1981-2015 33yo SIGNATORY CASK STRENGTH COLLECTION for THE WHISKY HOOP #9443 50.2% one of 92 bottles, Refill Sherry Hogshead The aroma was elegant, with a gentle and pleasant sherry note, orange marmalade, a hint of coconut and mint, a moderate grainy character, a solid oak presence, and richness. When drinking, it had a gradual spicy kick, similar to the aroma's elegant fruity notes, orange marmalade, faint peach, a gentle grainy character, a balanced sweetness and acidity with some oily lingering finish. [Good/Very Good] This is a Glenlivet 1981, 33-year-old whisky bottled by The Whisky Hoop for Signatory, released in February. There is also a sister cask #9440 with the same specifications, but this is #9443. Since they were opened simultaneously, I could compare them. Compared to #9440, this had a more elegant aroma, with the sherry character not feeling heavy but rather softly enveloping everything. A faint coconut-like note, usually less prominent in sherry casks, was noticeable, along with an unexpected upfront presence of oak and grainy character, creating a distinct contrast in the aroma. When drinking, it also had an elegant quality with a slight spiciness. The sherry character still felt soft and enveloping, with good balance between fruity notes, grainy elements, sweetness, and acidity. Blind tasting would likely lead one to think it's a sherry cask whisky with a slight bourbon cask influence, which is an impressive malt. It was interesting that it differed quite a bit from the upcoming #9440. #Glenlivet (GLENLIVET)
