LAPHROAIG 1983-1999 16yo Mackillop's Choice #1849 52.5%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
True to the early 1980s distillation. Excellent. LAPHROAIG 1983-1999 16yo Mackillop's Choice #1849 52.5% The aroma has a unique intoxicating quality, with ripe grapefruit peel, a concentrated feel, plum, faint peach, vanilla, dried strong malt, subtle musk, and a solid smoky peat. When drinking, it has a concentrated powdery citrus texture that gradually seeps into the tongue, a chewy malty umami, refined seafood dashi, a refreshing sweetness with a stronger citrus acidity, and a lingering smoky peat that is clearly felt alongside the fruits. 【Very Good】 This Laphroaig 1983, aged for 16 years, was bottled in 1999 by Mackillop's Choice. It has a strong citrusy character with the unique concentrated powdery feel often found in Laphroaigs distilled up to the early 1980s, accompanied by a faint peach nuance, making it very fruity. There is also a concentrated malty quality with rich umami, a texture that seeps into the tongue, and a smoky peat dominance with a moderate level of iodine. This uniqueness is irreplaceable. By the way, I thought this bottle was the same as one I had tasted before, and when I tasted it, there was no sense of discrepancy. However, upon closer inspection, the cask numbers differed by two and the alcohol content was slightly different. It seems to have been a sister cask with almost identical specifications, including the bottling. Both had similar characteristics and were very delicious.
