Bottle #カリラ(CAOL ILA)
A matured Clyde with depth. Clyde CAOL ILA 1983-2015 WEMYSS MALTS 46% one of 280 bottles, Hogshead The aroma features ripe oranges, apricots, vanilla, a grassy, tatami-like note, sea breeze, and smoky, sharp peat with a metallic edge. On the palate, it offers a gradual spice, vanilla, orange, grassy and metallic notes, a rich sweetness with the umami of fish stock broth, and a long smoky finish. [Good/Very Good] Wemyss bottled this Clyde 1983 in 2015, aged for about 32 years. In recent years, long-aged Islay malts have mainly been associated with Bunahabhain, and releases of Clyde have become quite rare. It was a pleasure to receive this long-aged bottling from recent years. Clyde, especially official releases, often struggles to show much maturity even with long aging periods. However, this bottle showed a notable level of maturity, possibly due to the cask influence. Additionally, while many Clydes have a sharp and cold impression, this bottle felt mellow, sweet, and warm. Of course, the peaty character is well-preserved, and I could sense that various elements were added through the long aging process. #Clyde (CAOL ILA)
