New Release: Glenord 1983 31 Year Old Cadenhead Single Cask

Glenord GLENORD 1983-2014 31yo Cadenhead Single Cask 51%
Bottle #グレンオード(GLENORD)
While it retains the barley characteristics typical of Oude, the overall profile was mellow and fruity. Glenord GLENORD 1983-2014 31yo Cadenhead Single Cask 51% The aroma featured strong honey, orange, apricot tea, faint peach, and a soft yet refined barley note with some tree resin. On the palate, it had a smooth mouthfeel with the expected honey depth and robust barley character, followed by ripe apricot, peach, pear, a touch of oil, fruity sweetness with balanced sweetness. The medium-bodied structure lacked overwhelming power but provided a pleasant lingering finish. 【Very Good】 This bottle comes from Cadenhead's Single Cask series (gold label) featuring Glenord 1983, aged for 31 years. Oude releases have become increasingly rare, making this bottle a highly anticipated release from Cadenhead. While I had imagined the rugged barley character typical of Oude's official long-aged bottlings, this whisky surprised with its strong honey and fruity notes. Throughout, the refined barley character remained dominant, presenting a savory yet balanced profile. While it may not deliver the expected rugged barley and thick body, this Oude offers a pleasant combination of good barley character and fruity notes. In some long-aged Oude bottlings (e.g., Samaroli 1965, Classic Cask 1965, OMC 1967), the body tends to weaken while fruity elements become more pronounced. These are certainly enjoyable, but they represent a different style from the traditional rugged house character of Oude. Given my fondness for this distillery, even enjoyable bottles often lead to various considerations.
