one of 225 bottles, REFILL SHERRY HOGSHEAD
The aroma features ripe plums, orange, nuts, good barley notes, a faint saltiness, vanilla, and a strong peat. Upon tasting, it delivers a rich sweetness of ripe plums, concentrated citrus notes, and a moist peat finish with a long, rich aftertaste.
【Good/Very Good】
This Calila 1984, aged for 29 years, was recently bottled by Signatory for The Whisky Exchange and has just arrived in Japan. The fruity notes, particularly the ripe plums, seem to originate from the sherry cask, without overpowering the good barley character or disrupting the balance with the strong peat. Upon tasting, alongside the plum-like fruits from the aroma, I also detected Calila's signature concentrated citrus nuances. The peat is strong but well-balanced, with a rich and lengthy finish. The sherry character was appropriately pronounced, resulting in a well-balanced aroma and flavor profile.
