The cask type is a Bourbon Butt, an unusual format that doesn't immediately conjure imagery. While I imagine Hoghead casks could be repurposed, can the same be said for Butts? Regarding the core content, a rustic barley character typical of Cadenhead is strongly present in both aroma and flavor, alongside the earthy, rustic nuances characteristic of Jura. Upon tasting, it lacks the fruitiness suggested by its aroma, instead emphasizing tar-like notes. While the sweet richness is enjoyable, the profile remains highly distinctive. Though 16 years have passed since bottling and it's hard to believe the ABV is nearly 60%, the character has mellowed.
