From the first aroma, the heavy Yoichi characteristics assert themselves. The concentrated fruity jam notes, thick and skillful barley sensation, dashi soy sauce, heavy peat with tar and iodine, along with oily pine pitch-like qualities and woody notes reminiscent of charred wood and pencil shavings—all these elements felt distinctly Yoichi. When tasted, it was indeed heavy and powerful. The barley and dashi umami were rich and intense, with the unique woodiness and peat as strong as in the aroma, accompanied by some bitterness. However, it was a very rich and powerful bottle overall. Its strong heavy personality caused some division in my circle, but personally I found the intense woodiness and bitterness acceptable, as it felt like a rich, flavorful Yoichi that strongly represented the house style. That said, it was somewhat tiring to drink, so rather than keeping a bottle at home, I preferred to occasionally enjoy it at a bar.
