Cooley for Taiwan, a tropical and well-balanced Irish whiskey. Cooley COOLEY 1988-2012 24yo ADELPHI 'LIMERICH SLANEY' for TAIWAN #10506 56.8% one of 188 bottles The aroma starts with tropical notes, featuring pineapple, papaya, orange cream, strong coconut, vanilla, oak, and a slightly chemical nuance. It has a rich, oily Irish character. Upon drinking, it offers a smooth mouthfeel that expands into the same tropical and strong fruity flavors as the aroma. There's a chemical-like sensation reminiscent of children's syrup medicine, along with a strong creamy oiliness, fruity sweetness, and a well-balanced oak finish. The aftertaste is long-lasting. 【Good/Very Good】 This is an Irish whiskey from Cooley 1988, a single cask aged for 24 years bottled by Adelphi for the Taiwanese market. From the first aroma, strong tropical fruits like pineapple and papaya take center stage. There was a noticeable chemical-like sensation, but it wasn't unpleasant, and it retained the oily characteristics typical of Irish whiskey. Notes of coconut, vanilla, and oak evoke a bourbon cask influence. Although there's no labeling, it might be a bourbon hogshead with fairly pronounced components. It isn't harsh, but it could potentially be a first-fill cask. When tasted, it also delivers a diverse range of fruity flavors including tropical fruits, with a chemical-like sensation and a clear oily texture. The balance between sweetness and bitterness is good, and I felt the body was appropriately robust for its alcohol content as an Irish whiskey. The bourbon cask nuances are well-defined, with oak notes present, but there was no hint of the slight bitterness or raw woodiness I had slightly worried about in the aroma. It was very delicious. This bottle was obtained from Main Malt in Kobe Sanmachi. #Irish (IRISH)
