Glenrothes GLENROTHES 1988-2013 WEMYSS MALTS 46%, one of 730 bottles, BUTT
Bottle #グレンロセス(GLENROTHES)
It was a bit surprising to feel a slight old-fashioned vibe. What kind of cask was it? Glenrothes GLENROTHES 1988-2013 WEMYSS MALTS 46% one of 730 bottles, BUTT The aroma features apricot jam, orange liqueur, plum, caramel, nut cream, strong oak, resin, rich and thick. Upon drinking, it has a smooth mouthfeel with plum and apricot jam, rich sweetness, gentle astringency, and oak that deepens the flavor, with a slightly oily and long finish. [Good/Very Good] Wemyss bottled this Glenrothes in 2013, aged approximately 25 years. In reality, it was bottled about two years ago, but the first impression of the aroma gave a slightly matured feeling, though not fully old. The overall sensation is covered with a pleasant sherry-like note, with quite diverse and rich fruity notes and sweetness, while the gentle astringency and oak enhance the flavor, with a long finish. This malt also gave an impression of being well-prepared with water addition, maintaining a rich taste and sweetness without being cloying, while the astringency didn't interfere, keeping the drinkability. In this case, I think bottles with water addition might undergo faster positive aging changes inside the bottle. However, that also means they may deteriorate more quickly, so caution is needed... #Glenrothes (GLENROTHES)
