Bottle #カリラ(CAOL ILA)
A young yet well-balanced Calila. Calila CAOL ILA 1990-1998 8yo Clydesdale #2531 57% one of 234 bottles The aroma features orange and vanilla, fresh barley notes, a touch of crispness, sea breeze with a faint metallic hint, fish stock dashi, and smoky peat. On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a concentrated and slightly powdery texture, with vanilla, orange oil, pleasant sweetness, gentle acidity, barley umami, powerful peat, and a crisp finish. [Good/Very Good] This Calila 1990 was bottled by Clydesdale in 1998, aged for only 8 years. Although the aging period is short, it has a pleasant bourbon cask nuance without any off-putting notes and also features strong peat, resulting in very little sense of immaturity. Additionally, the fact that it has been bottled for nearly 10 years may have had a positive effect. It also carries a concentrated and powdery texture reminiscent of a delicious Lagavulin, with good balance between sweetness, acidity, and umami. With sharp peat and a faint metallic note, this is a well-crafted Islay malt that fully embodies the essence of Calila.
