This is a nice release that feels like it was done with care. Highland Park 1990-2015 24yo GM RESERVE for Germany #5102 50% – One of 324 bottles, Refill American Hogshead The aroma is vibrant with orange peel, thick honey, apple, vanilla, and rich oak, with a touch of barley and subtle smoke from the depths. When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that slightly expands into spiciness, featuring orange oil, pineapple, coconut, gentle barley umami, rich honey sweetness, tightening oak richness, and a slightly refined peat that gradually builds up. The finish is long and oily. 【Very Good】 Bottled by GM for Germany, this is a Reserve label Highland Park 1990 aged for 24 years. From the first aroma, it's very vibrant with clear fruitiness and honey notes, along with a smoky character and rich oak presence, while retaining a balanced barley note. When drinking, the fruitiness of the aroma is enhanced with tropical pineapple elements, paired with the rich oak depth of honey sweetness and barley umami, along with a gradually emerging peat. The house style of honey and peat is clearly evident, but the level of fruitiness gives a sense of intoxication even by recent standards. Other elements like the core barley note are also well-developed without any off-putting aspects, giving a strong impression of a high-quality bottling at the right time. While the Signature 2000 filled with hoops was also very good, I felt a bit envious of this superior finish. A 24-year-old whisky in a good American Hogshead refill. This level of cask character and aging balance is quite common, but it feels just right.
