Longmorn LONGMORN 1990-2016 26yo SIGNATORY VINTAGE for THE WHISKY HOOP #8577 55.7% one of 194 bottles, Hogshead
Bottle #ロングモーン(LONGMORN)
A cost-effective mid-matured Speyside malt with consistent deliciousness. Longmorn LONGMORN 1990-2016 26yo SIGNATORY VINTAGE for THE WHISKY HOOP #8577 55.7% one of 194 bottles, Hogshead The aroma is elegant with orange peel and faint peach, coconut, vanilla cream, and a lingering malt note. Upon drinking, it gradually delivers spicy stimulation with vanilla, custard cream, light peach compote, sweet Western confectionery notes, tightening oak tannins, and a balanced malt umami. [Good/Very Good] Signatory bottled Longmorn 1990 for The Whisky Hoop, matured for 26 years. The bottling date is the same as previous labels for The Whisky Hoop, released last year but distributed to members this October. Although it is likely a Bourbon Hogshead, the 26-year maturation provides a pleasant cask character without being overwhelming, along with the typical Speyside malt's fruity elegance. The spiciness and malty characteristics are well-balanced, with the oak astringency adding to the body. This Longmorn has a gentle, sweet Western confectionery-like deliciousness without being harsh. While not particularly unique, it is a reliable Speyside malt. At a release price of 12,500 yen for a 26-year-old, it's certainly a cost-effective release compared to official bottlings. Indeed, Signatory delivers as expected.
