Bottle #グレンドロナック(GLENDRONACH)
Natural sherry character made a good impression. GlenDronach GLENDRONACH 1990-2014 23yo OB for MEMORIES OF SCOTLAND #2190 53.1% One of 688 bottles, Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon The aroma is gentle and expands over time with a slightly stronger fruitiness of plum jam, orange marmalade, American coffee or bitter chocolate, herbs, good woodiness, a slightly damp grain from the depth, smooth despite the high alcohol content with a light stimulation, jam-like sweetness not too strong, faint acidity, faint leather or earthiness, and a mild tannin with good woodiness that adds depth to the flavor. Balance is good. 【Good/Very Good】 Recently bottled GlenDronach 1990, aged 23 years in Pedro Ximenez Puncheon. This was selected and bottled by Campbelltown Loch, a place I've been taking care of in Yurakucho, together with other BAR professionals last year in Scotland. It has a gentle sweet aroma first, and the strong fruitiness characteristic of Pedro Ximenez is clearly felt. Also, components typical of sherry cask maturation such as coffee, chocolate, and herbs are clearly present. The graininess is also well expressed from the depth. When drinking, it's not overly sweet for Pedro Ximenez, and a slight sourness is also felt. Then the woodiness and its tannins tighten the flavor, without any unpleasantness, and the balance is good. As a sherry cask matured malt, it's a type that can be enjoyed without getting tired of drinking it. At the same time, it's fun to find complex aromas if you look for them. This cask, I had sampled it last year, but somehow the color seemed lighter and the flavor more gentle than at that time. However, there's no apparent downside compared to the sample, and it was a very delicious Pedro Ximenez GlenDronach. Actually, personally, I tend to prefer less of the Pedro Ximenez casks from GlenDronach compared to Oloroso, but this one had no problematic points with its natural sherry character and was good. #GlenDronach (GLENDRONACH)
