The aroma features green apple, vanilla, fresh orange, a slightly moist and gentle maltiness with oak, faint honey. The palate is smooth with apple and orange notes, a touch of juice-like freshness, and a honeyed sweetness with good malt presence. The finish is not long but leaves a refined impression.
【Good/Very Good】
This is a new release from the Single Malt of Scotland by Speciality Drinks (Whisky Exchange). It seems the label has changed from black to white this time, but personally I prefer the new white label.
True to a bourbon barrel, elements like green apple, orange, and vanilla are clearly present, with the maltiness gently asserting itself.
Upon tasting, it's smooth with nuances of apple and orange that hint at some juiciness, along with a honey-like sweetness and pleasant malt character.
While the alcohol strength feels lighter than expected, it's a well-balanced and beautifully crafted Glenrothes throughout.
Despite being aged for 23 years in a bourbon barrel (a slightly longer maturation), the oaky nuances are not overpowering. The attractive components of the bourbon cask shine through without the typical woody bitterness often associated with such barrels, resulting in a pleasant drinking experience.
Among recent new releases, this bottle stood out with its consistently positive attributes and left a particularly refined impression.
