Dunyvaig DUNYVAIG 1990-2013 23yo Silver Seal 55.1% one of 156 bottles The aroma is rich sherry, meaty, dried fruits, dried apricot, dates, nuts, toasted barley, light toasted barley, caramel and black sugar, slightly strong peat, when drinking it has a slightly sulphuric note, rich and jammy fruits with sweetness, good acidity, meaty, long finish with some peat. 【Good/Very Good】 New release from Silver Seal, a single malt labeled as Dunyvaig, distilled in 1990 and aged for 23 years. The distillery is not listed, but it's rumored to be Lagavulin. From the aroma, a clear sherry nuance is felt, rich and meaty. The notes of sweet dried fruits and nuts are strong, with a slight toasted barley sensation. When drinking it has a slightly sulphuric nuance, but the rich fruity character from the aroma remains intact, offering a rich and satisfying flavor. There is peat, but compared to Lagavulin it feels quite mild and gentle, with less intensity. The sherry expression seems close to the sherry cask nuances used by distilleries in the Edrington Group. If blindfolded and asked to choose from an Islay distillery, the peat is slightly strong, but I would guess Bunahabhain. The answer is unknown, and preferences for sherry character may vary, but it was a rich and delicious malt.
