The aroma features custard, orange or apple, vanilla, oil, oak and nuts, with a faint hint of camomile tea and sea breeze.
When tasted, it gradually reveals spicy notes with a slight viscosity, orange oil, pleasant oak, honey, a rich sweetness and strong saltiness, with an oily and long-lasting finish.
【Very Good】
This Pulteney 1991 was bottled in 2007 as an official single cask (#29), having matured for approximately 16 years.
It has an oily and viscous texture, with a strong richness and sweetness, and the saltiness is clearly perceptible - typical Pulteney characteristics. Additionally, the base cask influence was very well balanced without excessive flavoring.
Moreover, it had a subtle yet definite floral nuance reminiscent of camomile, which is often associated with special Pulteney bottlings. It contains all the desirable flavors that one would look for in recent Pulteney releases, and was very delicious.
I think Pulteney is one of the distilleries where post-1990s releases are typically more delicious than older ones.
