On the palate, it is rich with heated apple and orange, deep honey sweetness from the back, tightening rich oak, a balanced barley note with its umami, cinnamon and some spices or tree sap, cream, full-bodied with a long finish. 【Very Good/Excellent】 This is a single cask bottling of Aberfeldy 1991, aged for 24 years, produced specifically for THE WHISKY SHOP. Although bottled in 2015, it became available in Japan relatively recently. I suspect there were certain circumstances; perhaps it was sold exclusively in stores for a while before release, or it followed the pattern of bottling and then releasing after some time. Customers in Japan can also shop online from this store. Aberfeldy has several exceptional single casks, including hand-filled bottles. In particular, the 1991 vintage stands out; I remember the honey-labeled single cask bottled for the Aberfeldy Festival in 2013 was particularly delicious. The balance of house style and aging is well-maintained, with rich oak, spices, and depth. These elements are clearly expressed in both aroma and flavor. Due to some time having passed since bottling, it feels more cohesive than a new release. Each component is rich and balanced, yet not overwhelming—truly the kind of whisky that commands respect. It is certainly not an inexpensive bottle, but it's one I would want to keep and savor carefully. However, its simultaneous release with Lagavulin 25 made it financially difficult to purchase, which is a personal regret.
