Glencadam GLENCADAM 1991-2017 26yo Gordon and MacPhail "Cask Strength" for The Whisky Exchange #3248 54.4% Refill Bourbon Barrel
The aroma is vibrant and strong, with notes of green apple, fresh orange, vanilla, a touch of cream, and a pleasant malty character.
On the palate, it's slightly spicy and stimulating, with sweet honey-like flavors, a good oak presence, subtle malty richness, and a long, spicy finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This is a Glencadam 1991, aged for 26 years, recently bottled by GM for The Whisky Exchange.
Although labeled as a refill bourbon barrel, it seems to have been drawn at an optimal time for first-fill characteristics, showcasing the positive aspects of bourbon barrels without being overwhelming—notes of orange and vanilla.
Glencadam often evokes the image of orange cream, giving a slightly sought-after impression, but the aroma did convey that kind of nuance.
Due to its recent bottling and strong initial attack, the creamy elements weren't as prominent in flavor, but it was a high-quality malt from a bourbon cask with good body.
After opening or with some aging, it might develop a creamier texture and feel more like a house style.
